Quotes is a digital quote companion: you photograph or dictate passages from the books you read, and the app keeps them in a personal library on your device. This policy describes what the app does — and deliberately does not do — with your data.
Who we are
Quotes is made and operated by Yigit Gurtunca, an individual developer based in Germany. For data-protection purposes that makes him the controller of the data described in this policy. You can reach him at [email protected].
There is no company behind the app and no investors. If you sign in to sync, your library is stored by our database provider on our behalf — no one uses it for their own purposes, and it is never sold or shared.
The short version
Quotes works entirely on your device. Signing in is optional — if you do, your books and quotes are backed up to your account so you can read them on another device. Photos of pages and dictation audio never leave your phone, ever. No analytics, no ads, no tracking. We never sell or share your data.
Data stored on your device
Everything you create in Quotes — your books, quotes, tags, favorites, notes, and cached book covers — is stored on your device. If you never sign in, it stays there and is never uploaded to us or anyone else. You can export your entire library at any time from Settings → Export, and you can delete it by deleting the app.
If you sign in to sync (optional)
Signing in is entirely your choice, and the appt.
